The Wissahickon School District anticipates contracted and long-term substitute positions in the following areas for the 2008-2009 school year:

Wissahickon’s application process for professional staff is paperless and begins with an on-line, two part protocol.  No materials should be sent to the district until they are requested.

 

Part I is the completion of the TeacherInsight interview.  This protocol can be accessed at https://gx.gallup.com/teacherinsight.gx.  The district Code is 20567864. The second part of the application process is the completion of an on-line application through the Pennsylvania Regional Education Placement Program (PAREAP).  To apply, simply follow these steps:

1.       Log on to http://www.pareap.net

2.       Click on “ Employment Center

3.       Click on “Join PA.R.E.A.P.

4.       Click on “Sign-up online”

5.       Click on “Register Here”

6.       Click on “I agree”

7.       Fill out the registration form

8.       Click on “Next”

Once online, follow the instructions to complete your application.  Note that you will need your user name and password whenever you log on to complete or update your application file.

If your application is under consideration for a vacancy, you will be contacted by the Wissahickon School District .  When requested to appear for an interview, please bring the following materials with you:

1.       A copy of your Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate

2.       A copy of your current (within the last year) State Police Background Check (Act 34)

3.       A copy of your current (within the last year) PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)

4.       A copy of your current (within the last year) FBI Clearance

5.       A copy of your official college transcripts

6.       A summary of National Teacher Examination Series (Praxis) scores

7.       Three letters of recommendation

8.       Other materials you feel would be helpful in evaluating your candidacy

SUMMER WORK

  • Secondary Course Writing  Course writers needed to write planned courses of study for the following:

 

1.      Grades 7-12 Social Studies (6 courses, one at each grade level)

2.      High School Health and Physical Education (4 courses total, 2 in health; 2 in recreational activities)

3.      Middle School Health (3 courses, one at each grade level)

 

Course writing work needs to follow established scheduled timeline, including portions of the project to be completed during the summer. Please be sure to indicate the course/grade level you are interested in writing. 

 

Certification required in the content area. Authors will be compensated at the curriculum-writing rate as per the collective bargaining agreement.   • Curriculum Assessment Writing   Professional staff needed to write curriculum assessments for the following courses:
    1. Pre-Calculus (A)

Certification required in the content area appropriate to the course.  Authors will be compensated at the curriculum-writing rate as per the collective bargaining agreement.   • Grades 1-6 Mathematics Assessment (Data Collection Instruments) Revision

Teachers needed to revise existing mathematics (assessments) data collection instruments for grades 1-6.

                                       

Teachers will work on the following:

1.                  Revise existing data collection instruments

2.                  Align with anchors/standards & Everyday Mathematics Program/grade level goals

3.                  Develop timelines for administration

 

Certification required in the content area (elementary mathematics). Authors will be compensated at the curriculum-writing rate as per the collective bargaining agreement.
